Valsassina: Moggio, Piani di Artavaggio Pian delle Betulle

VALSASSINA
Valsassina is a valley in the province of Lecco dominated by the Grigne Formation. It borders to the west with the Orobie Prealps and to the east and north with Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio. It is easily accessible from Milan, and is located a few kilometers from the city of Lecco. Tourists who go there, spend their holidays and weekends in the middle of nature. Valsassina is synonymous with meadows, flowers and plants, rocks and waterfalls, paths that lead to the mountains and panoramic points that allow you to admire Lake Como and the nearby valleys. It is a land of discovery and exploration. Part of this territory is protected by the Grigna Regional Park which offers natural, historical and artistic treasures, suitable for all ages. Esino Lario, Moggio, Pian delle Betulle and Piani di Artavaggio are among the most famous destinations in Valsassina.

MOGGIO
Moggio is a small village in Valsassina, located along the provincial road that crosses the whole valley. It is the ideal starting point for high-altitude excursions and guarantees cool relaxation in the summer, when it becomes livelier, thanks to vacationers and passing tourists. This small town experienced a tourist boom during the 1980s, but it still has an attractive charm for those who want a cool climate in summer and white snow in winter.
From the town it is possible to reach Piani di Artavaggio by means of a cable car both in the summer and winter seasons.

I PIANI DI ARTAVAGGIO
Piani di Artavaggio is considered one of the most beautiful panoramic balconies of all the Alps and can be reached from Moggio via a cable car. In summer it is ideal for fantastic excursions for everyone; in winter, however, it turns into a real snow paradise. You can go cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, sledging, walking with snowshoes. For beginners it is possible to learn to ski thanks to the presence of moving walkways that allow the ascent to easy slopes. Piani di Artavaggio hosts numerous huts where it is possible to taste local products and traditional Lombard dishes.

PIAN DELLE BETULLE
Pian delle Betulle is located a few minutes from Lecco, in the municipality of Margno. Here you can immerse yourself in unspoiled nature, peace and silence. Among the pastures there is a small tourist center equipped with sports facilities, hotels, restaurants, holiday homes, small parks, a large adventure park and even a church. This is known as the “Church of Pian delle Betulle“, is located at 1500 meters high and is a project by the architect Mario Cereghini. It was consecrated by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Montini. It is a place suitable for all ages.
